How to use this comparison

  • Use this comparison when your vehicle can run on more than one fuel type or when you want to compare the long-run cost of different vehicles.

  • Annual cost comparisons are most useful when they reflect your real fuel economy and the prices you are actually seeing near home or work.

  • Once you know which fuel type looks better on paper, check the live map for local station availability and current pricing.

Common questions

Fuel type comparison FAQ

E10 is usually 2–3c/L cheaper at the pump but consumes 2–4% more fuel per kilometre. On most modern petrol cars E10 still wins narrowly — but the saving disappears if you drive an older car designed for U91 only.
