Compare By Grade
How to compare fuel types
The cheapest fuel is only useful if your vehicle can use it and it is available nearby.
Check vehicle requirements
Compare like with like. If your vehicle requires premium or diesel, the cheapest U91 price is not the relevant benchmark.
Move from averages to local prices
Use national and state averages to spot price differences, then search your suburb for current station prices.
Check local availability
Some grades are available at far fewer stations. Check the map before planning around LPG, E85 or premium diesel.
Common Questions
Fuel type questions
Compare the fuel grade your vehicle actually needs, then check local prices within that grade.
E10 is a blend of 90% unleaded petrol and 10% ethanol, while Unleaded 91 is pure petrol with a 91 octane rating. E10 is typically cheaper but may result in slightly lower fuel economy. Most modern vehicles can use E10, but check your owner's manual to be sure.
