How drops are detected

How a price drop is detected — and how cycles work

A "price drop" means the station's last reported U91 price is at least 3c per litre lower than its previous listing, ranked by size of the move. The list is recomputed every 15 minutes.

  • Drops are ranked by size, not absolute price. A station near the cycle peak that drops 10c is often still dearer than a quieter station that hasn't moved.
  • Pair this list with the live map to see if cheaper-than-average alternatives are within driving distance before chasing a headline drop.
  • Changes are ranked by when the retailer actually changed the price at the bowser, not when our system synced — so slower VIC and WA feeds show their real change time.
  • Listings refresh in 15–30 minute cycles from official state portals plus voluntary retailer disclosures. LPG and diesel often cycle on a different rhythm to unleaded.
