Why suburb-level prices matter

Fuel prices can differ between nearby suburbs and between stations in the same suburb. The size and direction of the gap changes with the fuel grade, retailers reporting and current market. Treat a suburb average as a way to narrow the search, not as the price you will pay.

What can affect a suburb average?

The number of reporting stations, local competition, the mix of fuel grades and the timing of station price changes all affect the result. An area with several service stations may offer more choice, but an independent or large-format retailer is not automatically cheaper.

How to use a suburb ranking

Select the fuel grade first, note the data timestamp and check how many stations contribute to the average. Open the suburb page or map to compare individual station prices and update times. A low average based on a small number of reports needs more care than a broad, recent sample.
