Method and disclaimer

  • Station prices are the reports FuelRadar holds from state price schemes and retailer feeds, each with the time FuelRadar last updated it. The area average is the plain mean of the competitors' current prices within the radius shown; a station without a current report for the grade is left out. A price change is a report that differs from the station's report before it; its time of day is the station's local clock.
  • The state average is the state daily average FuelRadar publishes for the grade (the mean of every station reporting it that day). The terminal gate price is the Australian Institute of Petroleum's published benchmark for unleaded 91 and diesel: the nearest capital's figure where it publishes one, else the national one, dated by the AIP. It includes excise and GST and excludes freight and site costs. The margin charted is the area average or your price less that benchmark: a gap over wholesale, not profit.
  • The suggested price is arithmetic on what you enter: your buy price, delivery and site costs per litre plus your target margin, grossed up for the card and loyalty fee share, so a litre sold at that price leaves the margin you set. Your margin at your current price, gross profit a day and the break-even price use the same inputs; a blank field uses the dated default shown in grey, and delivery and site costs count as zero until you enter them. Inputs stay on this device only. Cycle, weekday and outlook figures are the capital's, measured from its daily averages and FuelRadar's forecast; they describe the city, not one site.
  • FuelRadar shows reported prices and public wholesale benchmarks. The figures here are estimates from the inputs you enter and are not advice; pricing decisions and compliance with competition law are yours.
