How the lock works

  1. Open the My 7-Eleven app. It finds the lowest price for your fuel type at the five 7-Eleven stores closest to you, within 250 km.
  2. Lock that price. The lock is free, lasts 7 days, and you can hold one at a time.
  3. Fill up at any 7-Eleven that sells that fuel and scan the app at the counter. A lock covers up to 150 litres.
  4. The saving is capped at 25c/L. If the pump price is lower when you fill up, you pay the pump price.

Best time to lock

Lock when the lowest 7-Eleven price near you is low and prices are expected to rise within 7 days. The city list above shows FuelRadar's forecast where one is published for that city.

In Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, unleaded petrol moves in price cycles: prices ease for several weeks, then jump within a day or two. The best time to lock is near the bottom of the cycle, before the jump. Perth prices move on a weekly cycle, and FuelWatch publishes tomorrow's prices each afternoon.

When to wait

When prices are falling, a lock saves nothing and uses your one active lock. Wait until prices are near the bottom, then lock.

Common questions

Which 7-Eleven store's price does the app lock?

The My 7-Eleven app offers the lowest price for your fuel type among the five 7-Eleven stores closest to you when you lock. If the cheapest store in your city is not one of those five, the app will not offer its price, so open the app when you are near the store shown in the city list above.

Can I cancel a 7-Eleven fuel lock?

No. An active lock stays until you use it or it expires 7 days after you locked it.
