Use the last fill, not a brochure figure
Copy the receipt litres
Enter the litres printed on the bowser receipt. Rounding to a whole number moves the L/100km result more than a small odometer error.
Measure the distance on that tank
Reset the trip meter at the fill, or subtract the previous odometer reading from the current one. Do not enter the next trip you are planning.
Treat it as this tank only
Traffic, hills, load and air-con change the next fill. Average a few tanks before using the figure in the trip cost calculator.
Keep the units consistent
Litres stay litres. Distance uses kilometres or miles depending on the site. The result is always shown as L/100km.

Last-fill economy examples
These examples use the same formula as the calculator. Replace every figure with the litres and distance from your last fill.
| Litres used | Kilometres driven | L/100km | km/L |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40.0 L | 500 km | 8.0 | 12.5 |
| 48.2 L | 612 km | 7.9 | 12.7 |
| 55.0 L | 680 km | 8.1 | 12.4 |
Formula: L/100km = litres ÷ kilometres × 100. km/L = kilometres ÷ litres.
