Motavo vs FuelRadar: quick answer

Start with FuelRadar when the task is choosing a specific Australian service station. It keeps fuel grades separate, ranks nearby stations and links the result to local and station pages, report timing where supplied, directions, outages, forecasts and detour checks. Motavo is a useful alternative when you want a simple browser check without a login or app, or when you want public EV charging locations on the same website.

Who publishes this comparison

FuelRadar is the publisher of this comparison, so it has an obvious interest in recommending FuelRadar. The comparison uses Motavo's public website, a sampled local fuel page, its EV directory and its XML sitemap. We did not test every station report or alert delivery. Motavo strengths are included where its public pages support them, and features can change after this review.

Both services use state price-reporting programs

State price reporting is not a unique advantage for either website. Both services describe national Australian coverage using the reporting available in each state and territory. Compare the fuel-grade controls, report timing, station detail, local pages, route tools, alerts, outages and stated limits.

Where FuelRadar goes further before a fill

FuelRadar provides a national map and ranked list plus dedicated station, suburb, postcode, city, state, brand and fuel-type pages. Station and local pages show report timing and source notes where the feed supplies them. Drivers can also open price-cycle and forecast pages, reported supply and outage pages, saved-station alerts, fuel discounts and calculators for a trip, fill or return detour. Native iPhone and Android apps support repeat checks away from a desktop browser.

Where Motavo is useful

Motavo promotes a free and independent website with no login, app or sponsored listings, and says no station can pay to rank higher. Its home page provides a nearby fuel search, a route planner and an alert sign-up by suburb and fuel type. Local pages target selected Australian cities and suburbs, show cheapest and average figures in the written summary, and link to nearby areas. Motavo also publishes an EV charging map beside its fuel prices.

Why a FuelMate result may still appear as Motavo

The older FuelMate address still returns Motavo-branded pages instead of redirecting every request. The canonical URL points to motavo.au, so search engines are being asked to consolidate the old address into the Motavo domain. During that transition, a result can still display a FuelMate URL or an older cached title. That is a migration detail, not evidence that Motavo has a larger station dataset or fresher prices.

Check the station list as well as the summary

A local summary is not a substitute for the current station result. Motavo's home page says its prices are updated daily from the official state schemes, so confirm that the station list has loaded, open the station, choose the exact grade and read the report time.

No sponsored results is a product choice, not proof of fresher data

Motavo states that it shows no sponsored results. FuelRadar uses advertising on eligible public pages to fund free maps, reports and tools, and a station cannot pay to change the underlying reported-price evidence. Neither model proves that one station report is newer. Freshness depends on the source, state reporting rules and when the retailer last changed or confirmed a price.

Which service should you use?

Use Motavo when a lightweight web check or public EV charger search fits the trip. Use FuelRadar when you want to move from a broad area search to a specific Australian station check with grade, report timing, distance, local context, app access and detour maths. If a price looks unusual, compare another source and confirm the final price at the bowser.
